When Will the 2027 Hyundai Elantra Be Released in the United States?

Hyundai has not yet provided an official U.S. on-sale date for the next-generation Elantra.

What Hyundai has confirmed is that the eighth-generation Avante made its world debut at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show on June 26, 2026. Hyundai opened ordering for the redesigned model in South Korea in August 2026 and has identified the new Avante as the all-new Elantra in its global communications.

For U.S. shoppers, that means the redesigned Elantra is getting closer, but several important details remain unannounced. Hyundai Motor America still needs to confirm the U.S. model year, trim lineup, powertrains, pricing, fuel-economy ratings and launch schedule.

The next-generation sedan is currently expected to reach U.S. dealerships sometime in 2027. Once Hyundai announces official American-market timing, World Hyundai Matteson will update this page with the latest information.

Is the 2027 Hyundai Elantra Getting a Redesign?

Yes. The next-generation Hyundai Elantra is a complete redesign.

Hyundai says the new Avante is the eighth generation of its compact sedan and the first full redesign in approximately six years. Its styling introduces Hyundai’s newer Art of Steel design direction, creating a noticeably different appearance from today’s Elantra.

At the front, the sedan features an H-inspired daytime running light signature Hyundai calls H-Edge Lighting, a new grille treatment and wider-looking bodywork. The profile combines a longer hood with sharper character lines inspired in part by Hyundai’s N Vision 74 concept.

The rear receives its own H-Edge lighting treatment, vertical taillamp elements and a trunk lid shaped to create a spoiler-like appearance.

Altogether, the new design moves the Elantra toward a lower, wider and more technical-looking shape while preserving the practical four-door sedan format.

How Much Bigger Is the New Hyundai Elantra?

One of the most significant changes is size. According to Hyundai’s specifications for the Korean-market Avante, the redesigned sedan measures:

Dimension New Korean-Market Avante
Overall length 4,765 mm
Overall width 1,855 mm
Overall height 1,425 mm
Wheelbase 2,750 mm

Compared with the previous Korean-market model, Hyundai says overall length increases by 55 mm, width increases by 30 mm, and the wheelbase grows by 30 mm.

Passengers benefit as well. Hyundai reports that rear-seat legroom increases by 29 mm, rear headroom by 18 mm and rear shoulder room by 22 mm.

Those are global/Korean specifications, so final U.S. measurements could differ. Still, they provide the clearest official preview yet of what American buyers may see from the next Elantra.

Pleos Connect Brings a New Digital Interior

The interior may represent an even bigger change than the exterior.

The redesigned Elantra introduces Hyundai Motor Group’s Pleos Connect next-generation infotainment platform. The system is based on Android Automotive OS and is designed to combine navigation, entertainment, vehicle settings and connected services through a more smartphone-like interface.

The Korean model features a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster along with a large center display. Hyundai has announced a 12.9-inch center screen in the standard configuration and an available 14.6-inch display for the Korean market.

Pleos Connect also supports the Pleos App Market, which is designed to allow compatible third-party apps and digital services to be used directly through the vehicle.

Hyundai has not yet announced which screen sizes, apps or Pleos Connect features will be included on U.S.-specification Elantra models.

What Is Gleo AI in the New Hyundai Elantra?

One of the most noteworthy technologies in the redesigned Elantra is Gleo AI, Hyundai Motor Group’s generative AI-powered in-vehicle assistant.

Rather than relying only on rigid voice commands, Gleo AI is designed to understand more natural conversations and the context of a driver’s request.

Hyundai says drivers can use Gleo AI to interact with supported vehicle functions, search for information, find destinations, access apps and receive context-aware assistance. It can also interpret everyday language and incomplete sentences.

For example, instead of memorizing a precise command, the system is designed around more conversational interaction between the driver and vehicle.

The all-new Elantra/Avante is among the first Hyundai models to introduce Pleos Connect and Gleo AI. Hyundai has not yet specified how these services will be packaged or offered in the United States.

What Engines Will the 2027 Hyundai Elantra Have?

U.S. engine specifications have not yet been announced.

For South Korea, Hyundai has introduced two powertrains for the eighth-generation Avante:

2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder: Hyundai lists the redesigned gasoline model at 149 horsepower in its home market.

1.6-liter hybrid: Hyundai says the redesigned hybrid has a 157-horsepower combined output, supported by upgrades to the engine, transmission, electric motor and battery.

The hybrid also introduces technologies intended to improve efficiency, including Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 and predictive energy-management features that use road and route information.

These specifications are important because they tell us how Hyundai is positioning the next generation globally, but they should not yet be considered confirmed specifications for the 2027 U.S. Hyundai Elantra.

Hyundai Motor America has also not announced next-generation Elantra N Line or Elantra N details.

What Safety Features Could Be Available?

Hyundai has introduced an expanded collection of driver-assistance and parking technology on the new Korean-market Avante.

Available technologies announced by Hyundai include:

  • Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2
  • Highway Driving Assist 2
  • Lane Following Assist 2
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist
  • Surround View Monitor
  • Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Memory Reverse Assist

Hyundai has also introduced an emergency feature that can limit acceleration and help slow and stop the vehicle when the electronic shifter’s Park button is pressed in an emergency.

Feature availability often differs by country and trim, so Hyundai’s Korean equipment list should be viewed as a preview rather than confirmation of U.S. standard equipment.

How Much Will the 2027 Hyundai Elantra Cost?

Hyundai has not announced U.S. pricing for the 2027 Elantra.

Pricing will likely be released closer to the vehicle’s American launch together with U.S. trim levels, destination charges, packages and EPA fuel-economy ratings.

For context, Hyundai currently lists the 2026 Elantra with a starting MSRP of $22,625 before freight, taxes, title, license fees and optional equipment. That does not indicate what the redesigned model will cost, but it provides a reference point for today’s Elantra lineup.

Shoppers interested in an Elantra today can also explore the current selection of new Hyundai Elantra models available at World Hyundai Matteson rather than waiting for the next generation.
