Hyundai Motor America is pleased to announce the wholesale release of the all-new 2023 IONIQ 6 all-electric four door streamliner. The IONIQ 6 stands out in the crowd with its EPA estimated range up to 361 miles, Hyundai’s most aerodynamic design profile to date, best-in-class ultra-fast charging and a human centric designed interior that is abundantly spacious. The interior was specially designed to be a mindful space to fit the occupants’ various needs with customizable ambient lighting and a bridge type center console that can serve as personal studio for those on the go. The IONIQ 6 offers a premium ride as smooth as its slipstream design, steering wheel mounted regen paddles allowing up to four selectable coast regen profiles, and five selectable drive modes.
The IONIQ 6 features multiple unique features that help it stand apart from other EV’s. First, the extended 116-inch wheelbase gives plenty of room to all occupants, especially for those in the rear. The ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.22 is achieved by active air flaps, full underbody covers, wheel gap reducers and elliptical wing inspired spoiler and winglet. In total, over 700 “Parametric Pixels” span out across the vehicle in various locations, including the headlamps, front lower sensor, air vent garnishes and center console. Aerodynamic machined 18 or 20-inch wheels look great but also assist in the ultra-low drag coefficient.
Inside, the IONIQ 6’s interior features eco-friendly materials that are both comfortable and friendly to the environment. The buttonless doors provide more storage, but also add a touch of refinement. Dual color ambient lighting provides overall illumination for the interior with user programmable modes, but also feature speed sensitive intensity. The modular 12.3-inch touchscreen integrates into the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster under a single piece of glass.
IONIQ 6 supports both 400V and 800V charging infrastructures. Using a 350 kW DC fast charger, IONIQ 6 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Or better put — 200 miles of range can be added in 15 minutes using this same charger. This highest- output Level III charging capability sets IONIQ 6 apart from the competition. The battery preconditioning function can be enabled when a charging station is set as the destination in the integrated navigation system (note this feature does not work with Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™). The onboard charger is rated at 10.9 kW and is standard for all IONIQ 6s. This allows an owner to fully charge their IONIQ 6 in about 7 hours from the comfort of their own home.
The IONIQ 6 is available in 3 trims: SE, SEL, or Limited. Each trim is available with AWD.
IONIQ 6 is available in both single and dual motor configurations, allowing for both rear wheel and AWD variants. With RWD versions, powered by a 168 kW motor (225 hp), output is a stout 258 lb.-ft. of torque. When equipped with the dual motor setup (74 kW front and 165 kW rear), the combined power output rises to 320 hp and 446 lb.- ft. of torque. Whichever configuration the customer chooses, impressive range is included — up to 361 miles with the SE RWD, and up-to 316 miles with the SE AWD. The SE Standard Range RWD will also be available later in the model year, equipped with a 53.0 kWh battery, 149 hp, and an EPA estimated range of 240 miles. There are seven colors available on the IONIQ 6: Serenity White, Curated Silver, and Gravity Gold (matte), Transmission Blue, Ultimate Red, Digital Green and Onyx Black.
Notable for IONIQ 6 is that all SE (Long Range), SEL and Limited trims comes standard equipped with heat pump technology to better warm up the interior cabin without sacrificing battery range. The Limited trim is equipped with a heated steering wheel. Also included is a battery preconditioning function, wireless device charging, and Hyundai Digital Key 2.0 being added for SEL and Limited trims.
IONIQ 6 also features Hyundai’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function—an onboard generator on wheels. It can power devices, appliances, heaters, even other EVs—you name it—through either an accessory adaptor, or through the built-in V2L outlet underneath the 2 nd row seats in the Limited trim.
IONIQ 6 features the full suite of Hyundai SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems to help ensure the highest levels of safety and convenience on the road. Standard SmartSense technologies include Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), High Beam Assist (HBA), and more. Equipped on SEL and Limited trims, Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2). Limited trim IONIQ 6s are also equipped with Remote Smart Parking Assist 2. SEL and Limited trims feature Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Machine Learning.
