Hyundai Bringing Plug-in EV Soon?

Hyundai CEO John Krafcik proclaimed the car company would shoot for a 50-mile-per-gallon fleet average by 2025. The automaker will focus on launching additional hybrids, introducing the BlueOn electric vehicle and eventually debuting a plug-in hybrid.

Hyundai presented "Blue Will" plug-in hybrid concept at the Seoul Motor Show back in 2009. The vehicle later made its North American debut at the Detroit Auto Show in 2010. Since then, there hasn't been much in the?

Hyundai Shows Off First Hybrid

Hyundai Motors unveiled the BlueOn earlier this week. It's the first all electric vehicle to be produced by the Korean auto maker.

The car is an electric version of the Hyundai i10 hatchback, showcased as an electric concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The BlueOn is named after Hyundai's Blue Drive eco-friendly lineup that one will be able to "switch on" according to Hyundai.

Hyundai Going for 50 MPG by 2025

While many auto makers are struggling to reach government regulated MPG ratings of 35 to 40 miles per gallon, Hyundai is upping the anti. The Korean auto maker says that by 2025 it will have 50 MPG capable cars.
